Painting with beads! Myriad tiny seed beads mingle with decorative found objects.
The dimension and texture that emerge make interesting, beautiful and fun framed creations as well as adornment for clothing.
Susan Germer has been sewing little gems on fabric since 1994. All beads and found objects used are individually sewn on with thread and tell a story or evoke a feeling.
"I find myself keeping everything from colorful chopstick papers to shiny wine bottle foil, interesting packing material, maple tree sticks from my yard or moss found on walks with my dog Bub and so much more!"
The result for instance is a remembrance of celebration fun with "Dinner at Pings" which uses colorful chopstick papers, gift wrap pieces, lots of little seed beads, buttons and more. "San Francisco Bay" has a construction feel incorporating vintage blue print paper, washer and nut hardware added among the tiny seed beads.
"Sweet Dream" features candy "waves" by the seashore. Adding this-and-that to the creation helps to tell the story.
Susan says, "As a result I keep everything from colorful chopstick papers to shiny wine bottle foil, interesting packing material, maple tree sticks from my yard and moss found on walks with my dog Bub."
